The day of Colossus
In Magic: The Gathering, the first “Colossus”… Colossus of Sardia being 9/9 inspired us to change Power Level: Colossal on September 9th this year.
This ban list aims to lower the barrier to entry for Power Level: Colossal, making it more accessible. Furthermore, not limited to this ban list, we plan to redefine the boundary with Power Level: Friendly through several upcoming ban list revisions. The three land cards being banned this time are all cards that are essential for building their corresponding archetype decks, yet are currently extremely difficult to obtain.
Additionally, while the next ban list announcement was originally scheduled for December, we have decided to add problematic cards from Power Level: Friendly to the Colossal List at this time as well.
Mind Over Matter
Following the release of Edge of Eternities, various decks utilizing The Eternity Elevator emerged. We initially observed the situation, as no card had ever existed in Huge Leaders that could generate such vast amounts of mana so easily. However, we determined that this card proved far more powerful than anticipated and that some form of countermeasure was necessary.
After deliberating whether to directly ban or restrict The Eternal Elevator itself, or instead target synergistic cards, we concluded that banning Mind Over Matter-that has repeatedly enabled the creation of solitaire decks—was the more appropriate course of action.
